Come with us as we join the colourful adventures of Peer Gynt travelling the world with a breathtaking lust for life. A man with no calling, no commitment and no morality. Ibsen’s classic is a thought provoking fable of the universal struggle to find our own identity and the meaning of life. Meet a host of characters including the Mountain King, the Trolls, Elves and goblins, the Great Boyg and the beautiful and ever patient Solveig. Thrill at the visual and musical spectacle, laugh or cry and ponder as you travel with Peer Gynt over mountains, desert and seas.
This production is adapted from a translation by Michael Meyer and we will be taking it to the Minack Theatre in Cornwall.

After a difficult start the boy becomes the grandchild they have longed for and as Norman revels in teaching him fishing and good books, he also learns some lessons about modern teenage awareness in return. As the summer ends so does their brief idyll but Norman and Ethel have been brought even closer together by the experience. A funny and moving play of rare simplicity and beauty.

This play dramatizes the Victorian scandal of 1890 in which Sir William Gordon Cumming, a baronet and personal friend of the Prince of Wales, was accused by his mistress’s husband of cheating at the card game, baccarat. Act 1 shows the alleged crime and Act 2 a re-enactment of the court case. The story is told in flashbacks framed by Cumming’s later description of events to his daughter. Whether he truly cheated, or was falsely accused by a jealous husband, is the mystery at the heart of this intriguing tale of honour and revenge.
