Charity Donations

The Charity Committee have agreed the list of charities to benefit from the optional donations made by our patrons in 2010/2011.

All the charities have been nominated by members of the Miller Centre Club or Miller Centre Players.

BAREFOOT IN THE PARK - Sept. 16 - 25th    
HOME START (Redhill, Reigate & Horley.)
Across the UK thousands of Home-Start volunteers visit families at home every week, supporting parents in situations as diverse as isolation, bereavement, multiple births, illness, disability or who just find parenting a struggle.
                                                    
THE DAY AFTER THE FAIR - Oct. 21 - 30th
RAINBOW TRUST
There are 10,000 families in England who have a child with a terminal or life threatening illness at any one time.  The Trust supports families who are facing the prospect of losing their child.                          

LARKIN WITH WOMEN - Nov. 25 - Dec 4th
PASTENS
A residential and respite project for children and young people with moderate to severe learning difficulties who may also have challenging behaviour and/or physical disabilities.  The residential service is based in three houses on the campus site.

SWIMMING WITH SHARKS - Jan 6 - 15th
CATERHAM SEA CADETS, TS ZEPHYR
The Sea Cadets exist to encourage young people towards responsible adulthood using a nautical theme based upon the customs and traditions of the Royal Navy.   Sea Cadets are not supported centrally but are self-funding individual units. 

THE MATCHGIRLS - Feb. 10 - 19th
MARIE CURIE CANCER CARE
Research commissioned by Marie Curie Cancer Care shows that 64 per cent of people would choose to die at home. In reality only 25 per cent achieve this. Marie Curie Nurses make that wish possible for thousands of cancer patients across the UK. 

REBECCA - March 17 - 26th     
NATIONAL CENTRE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WITH EPILEPSY
The NCYPE supports almost 200 children and young people with epilepsy and other neurological conditions, all but 12 are residential.  The charity provides medical assessment, rehabilitation, care and education. 
 
HEROES - April 21 - 30th
FRIENDS OF THE ELDERLY
Friends of the Elderly existing services include care homes, day clubs, home support, tele-befriending and a welfare grant programme.  They aim to help vulnerable older people through the welfare and grant giving service.     

HAPPY BIRTHDAY  - May 26th - June 4th
ST JOHN THE EVANGELIST, CATERHAM ORGAN REBUILDING APPEAL
For the last 125 years St John’s Church, because of its size, acoustics and wonderful Victorian organ, has been a regular venue for organ recitals, concerts and performances by local schools  Work to commence in September but  £10,000 still to be found.   £90,000 already raised by congregation and friends.                    

THE LION IN WINTER - June 30th - July 9th
ACTION MEDICAL RESEARCH  (Redhill & Reigate Committee)
AMR is dedicated to building a healthier future for everyone.  After pioneering the polio vaccine in the UK, the Charity has gone on to make breakthroughs in a wide range of illnesses and conditions, helping and giving hope to millions.
