Sitting Pretty - a change to our programme

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are not now able to perform Red Hot & Cole in July.

Instead, we will be staging Sitting Pretty, a comedy by Amy Rosenthal from July 4 - 13. A synopsis of the play can be found here.

Tickets, prices at £7 and £9, will be on sale from 29 April to members and 13 May to the general public.

Season Tickets for Red Hot & Cole will be valid for this production but Season Ticket holders should read the note in the newsletter at the end of April regarding their tickets.

Film Club Programme

We are delighted to confirm the programme for the rest of this season.

Following on from the acclaimed 2011 version of Jane Eyre on March 25, we have Clint Eastwood's celebrated drama J Edgar starring Leonardo di Caprio as J Edgar Hoover on 29 April. This film explores the public and private life of Hoover who, in his lifetime, became the most powerful man in America, heading up the FBI for nearly 50 years.

On 10 June, we are screening the delightful Quartet. In Dustin Hoffman's directorial debut, we have a warm, funny and emotional story with a terrific cast (including Maggie Smith, Billy Connolly, Tom Courtenay, Pauline Collins and Michael Gambon).

To end the season, on July 15 we are showing the musical blockbuster Les Miserables. Directed by Tom Hooper, this is the motion-picture adaptation of the beloved global stage sensation seen by more than 60 million people in 42 countries and in 21 languages around the globe. There will be a special matinee presentation as well as the evening screening.

The Exorcism

Patrons who saw our recent production of The Exorcism will have been impressed by our superb set, designed by Keith Orton and constructed by members of the Miller Centre Club and Theatre Company. Deservedly, it won a round of applause at every performance.

Unfortunately, it had to come down to make way for the next set. Steve Bishop recorded the event.

The region's best amateur theatre by miles!

"The Miller Centre Theatre's recent production of Calendar Girls was truly superb. Perfect casting, excellent acting and an ingenious set combined to make this show even better than the long running professional production. The theatre produced their own calendar to go with the show. Beautifully shot in the best possible taste, I hear it raised over £5,000 for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. How can they top this? The Miller's next show is The History Boys. Another great well chosen and another inspired set design hold promise of another great show in this very comfortable 'Tardis' of a theatre."
